​​​Cleaning upholstery is very similar to cleaning carpet but differs in a couple of ways. One of the big differences is that we use low pressure hot water extraction. Carpet can handle high pressure. Upholstery needs a light touch because of the depth of the fabric. Upholstery has a thin skin whereas carpet has a thick skin. ​Another difference is that we more often use enzyme cleaners for cleaning furniture because of the biological solids that transfer from a person's body.
Also, an upholstery cleaning service takes longer than carpet cleaning. It requires more hand work because each cushion has 6 sides, and the upholstery cleaning tool is smaller than a carpet wand so it can get in all the nooks and crannies of a chair.
